22. Younghearts - Queen Of My Heart
23. Medallions - Can You Talk?
24. Rare Function - Baby I'm For Real
25. Old Friends - Confesando
A little 411 on some of these tracks....
01. Charades - Treasure Of Love 1962 diggie, diggie, diggie dooooo Love the background!
From California's Central Valley in the late 50's, the original members of this solid vocal group first recorded in 1962 greatest success with "Please Be My Love Tonight" The Charades started in 1956 as the Latin Knights. In the early 60's they became the Charades and performed with and backed many rock and roll stars touring California.
02. Darrow Fletcher - Sitting There That Night 1966
Darrow Fletcher started singing when he was six years old.(born 23-January-1951 in Inkster, Michigan... (Rose Battiste's cousin)
He did this single on Jacklyn Records label & was a monster in Chicago, but never got much further than the city limits, due to Jacklyn Records small budget and despite all his recordings, he never made an album.
03. Occasions - Baby Don't Go 1967
A local group from Cleavland backed up by legendary Jim Brown of The Cleavland Browns, "Big Jim Records" had lofty goals of recording local talent and the Occasions, a relatively unknown group was the first act. The label, a subsidiary of Way Out Records, unleashed "Baby Don't Go" . While waiting for more releases, Big Jim left them high and dry by moving to Hollywood and not looking back.....Poor Dudes, Jive Jim :(
06. Intruders - Doctor, Doctor 1970
B side is When We Get Married as a 7", Single
The Intruders were the first group to score hits with the songwriting/production team of Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, they played a major role in the rise of Philadelphia soul, These guys were originally formed as a doo wop group in 1960 which I love all their doowop & soul hits!
07. Eight Minutes - Will You Still Be Mine 1968
AKA The Soul Impacts, on Jay Pee label....This group was formed in 1967 ,the children of two Chicago families, another fav track was "Oh Yes I Do" also 1968
10. Dramatics - If You Haven't Got Love May of 67
The Masterkeys also recorded this gem a few months later in August of 67
both on Sport label. I like both versions but IMHO Dramatics did it a little better...
12. Dynamics - Ice Cream Song 1969
On Hacktone Records, All Detroit natives...the group was managed by Ted White, who was married to the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin....The Dynamics had three lead voices!
13. TnT Band - I Miss You 1969
Off The Meditation Album, Coming straight out of El Barrio and the streets of New York City, These guys were doing their own thang Latin style, they only recorded 3 albums over a 2 year period, The Meditation being their last. I fell in love with this song while I was at a friends house, I kept asking him to play this track over and over until I guess he couldn't take it no more and gave me the album which I still have :)
16. Montclairs - Ease The Pain no specific year, Guessing 1973
An East St. Louis Sweet Soul vocal group who were actually named after a local brand of cigarettes! They recorded their first single in 1969, which was only distributed in the St. Louis area, the Montclairs recorded some fine heartache ballads in the early '70s that deserved better fates than they got.
23. Vernon Green & The Medallions - Can You Talk? 1973
Can you say "scandalous" ? But I LOVE it!! They were the first Vocal Doowop group to record on Dootone Records in the late 50's.. Since the passing of Vernon Green in 2000, His brother Jimmy Green and Billy Foster have continued The Medallions without him, the group has been "Reconstituted", by several musicians and singers who backed up and/or recorded with Mr. Green prior to his death.
Kick back and enjoy!

RossyBoy's Reggae Rolas Vol 20
I've been threatening to post a set of reggae tracks for some time, so after a hectic flurry of activity on the site in November, now seems as good a time as any. Quite a few of the names here have been mentioned over the months. The opener by Glen Miller is not great quality but it is quite rare so worth an inclusion. There are a few reggae versions of classic soul songs, plus a couple of soul songs from reggae artists. Beres Hammond is featured so at least our regular listener Eugene will be happy! This may not be your usual listening fare but open your hearts and your minds - at least that beat will help you relax !
Track list
01 - Glen Miller - Dungeon
02 - Audrey - You'll Lose A Good Thing
03 - Beres Hammond - Don't Play With My Heart
04 - Jackie Edwards - Come To Me Softly
05 - Beres Hammond & Marcia Griffiths - Live On
06 - Glen Miller - Love & Understanding
07 - L. Crosdale - Set Me Free
08 - Busty Brown - Aware Of Love
09 - Hortense Ellis - I'm Still In Love
10 - Beres Hammond - Oh I Miss You
11 - Glen Miller - Where Is The Love
12 - Pat Kelly - How Long (Will It Take)
13 - Delroy Wilson - I'm Still Waiting
14 - Alton Ellis & Hortense Ellis - Don't Gamble With Love
15 - Beres Hammond & Marcia Griffiths - Live On
16 - Glen Miller - You Must Be Love
17 - Beres Hammond - They Gonna Talk
18 - Jackie Edwards & Judy Mowatt - In Paradise
19 - Jean Adebambo - Say That You Love Me
20 - Bitty McLean - Walk Away From Love
Apologies - tracks 5 and 15 are duplicates, but with different filenames. Hopefully you'll think it's a good enough track to bear hearing twice !

POCOS PERO LOCOS compilation
From Me & My Family to You & Yours
OK, I know this doesn't go with the theme of what we're trying to do around here and I hope G Man doesn't mind me putting this up but in the past few days I have come to the realization that we as humans tend to take what GOD has given us for granted. I'm talking about the many things in life, starting with our parents, our children, family, friends, good health, and life itself and the many luxuries that are available to us.
I lost a niece(16yrs old) a little more than a week ago and the circumstances behind it are very crazy to say the least and too long to explain them here but it is when we lose things that we tend to remember how valuable they really are to us, especially when it is the life of a family member or close friend, etc... Sometimes our pets are treated as family as well and we hate to lose these things but it happens and it is then and only then that we realize how important they are in our life and how we sometimes tend to neglect the importance of what we mean to them as well as what they mean to us.
Sometimes we take for granted that they have a mother(your sis maybe), father(your bro maybe), brother, sister, etc... and we think that everything is OK so we don't visit them as much as we should, etc... then something tragic happens and we start feeling guilty that maybe, just maybe if we had paid them more attention, visited them more, etc... that maybe things wouldn't have ended the way they did.
Oh well, sometimes we can't always be there, sometimes we can but we neglect the chances we get and make excuses, etc... Sometimes all it takes is a few minutes to make the biggest of differences so if you have someone you haven't seen in a while or are mad at, etc... Please take this time of Giving Thanks to put any or all grudges behind you and go give them a visit/call and remind them that you still care. GOD gave us Love but sometimes we have more hate than we care to show love. I don't know why but hating is so much easier than showing our love but like with everything else, once you start showing love, it gets easier and easier and it makes us a better person for it., it also gives you a great feeling and makes everyone else around you happier.
Please don't take this as me giving a sermon, I am not, I am just giving Thanks to GOD for giving me life, a family, good health, etc... I pray that you all do the same.
So from The Juarez Family to Yours,
We Hope & Pray that you have the Happiest of Thanksgivings and that you are sharing/enjoying it with your loved one/s.
~Lil'Cholo
PS. I haven't had much time to be here with you guys/gals as much as I would like and for that I apologize but I decided to make time for this because I feel that you are important enough to show my appreciation for everything you do and despite it being kind of late here and me having to get up very early tomorrow, well, here I am if even for just a little while to say Thank You Very Much!
